Joseph Thomas Kovaloff

Joseph or "Joe" is the youngest of eight children and a proud 1987 graduate of Moanalua High School. Joe was born and raised in Kalihi Valley and continues to reside in the Valley with Noe and their pets.

Joe's first "real" job was at Chubby Q's back in 1984 where he worked as a cook for three years while going to school. He then moved onto Sbarros Pizza where he became the restaurant manager at the Ala Moana store and later opened up their second store at Pearlridge. The Ala Moana store is where Joe first met Noe.....it was love at first sight!

Joe eventually left Sbarros to join the Laborers Union where he worked on the historic H-3 tunnel. He and fellow miners drilled holes throughout the Ko`olau mountainside and filled them with dynamite. While helping another miner cut some pipe one night, a piece of slag fell on the guy's belt buckle. As a natural reflex, his buddy jumped back trying to get the piece of hot metal off of him and accidently burned Joe in the face with the cutting torch. Thank God Joe didn't lose his eye! Joe was lucky enough to work on the Kaneohe side of the tunnel first and finished about nine months ahead of schedule. He then worked on the controversial side of the tunnel, in Halawa, and finished without incident. It was definitely an adventure to remember!

Joe is currently employed with Bobby Ragasa General Contractors where he's been for the past 3 1/2 years. His first major job was on the island of Kauai where he worked with buddies Stephen and Peter in Princeville. They worked at Pu`u Pua for approximately six months flying home only on the weekends. This is how Joe picked up weight eating Al, Johnny, Stephen, Peter and his own good home cooking, in addition to, eating out at Garden Isle Barbeque every Friday before coming home.....ono chop suey!

Joe's favorite teams are the Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Braves and the UH Rainbow Warriors. His top race car drivers are "Slammin" Sammy Swindell, Jeff Gordon, the late great Dale Earnhart, Dale Earnhart Jr., and John Force.

Joe enjoys traveling, playing sports, collecting antique bottles, cock fighting and cooking. He hopes to open his own restaurant one day with his favorite Beef Curry a part of the main menu. Joe is also a second generation stock car driver at Hawaii Raceway Park where he won the 1994 Points Championship in the Super Street Class (yeah!).

Davilin Noelani Faria

Davilin or "Noe" as everyone (except the people she works with) calls her, is a 1988 graduate of Castle High School. Noe currently lives with fiance Joe and their pets in Kalihi Valley, but is originally from Kaneohe (god's country!).

While attending high school, Noe's first "real" job was at Zippy's Kaneohe where she worked along with 'Maid of Honor' Davelyn as a cashier/counter-girl. Noe eventually moved into the bakery helping push Naples and other pastries, then ultimately moved into the restaurant, first as a hostess, then finally as a waitress along with 'Bridesmaid' Karen and a few other classmates.

While attending Kapiolani Community College (back when it was located on Pi'ikoi and Pensacola Streets) and working part-time at Zippy's, Noe also worked part-time as a cashier at the Ala Moana Sbarros. This is where she met Joe's 'Bestman' Thomas and his brother Danny Boy. Both were working in the kitchen at Sbarros and attending food service classes at KCC. This is also where Noe first met Joe.

Noe eventually found herself a part-time position at Ocean Resort Hotel, in the reservations department, and quit both jobs at Zippy's and Sbarros. Noe interned in various departments at the Ocean Resort Hotel, and eventually graduated with an associates degree in hotel operations in 1992 (yeah!). Noe moved to the sales department, where she remained as a sales coordinator for almost 8 years.

In 1997, Davilin reluctantly left Ocean Resort to join E Noa Corporation (The Tours & Trolley People) where she's been happily employed for almost 6 years. Davilin is currently an administrative assistant in the sales & marketing department where she works with a bunch of energetic, humourous and committed individuals.

Noe LOVES Hawaiian food, spending time with her pets and sleeping. Noe is 50% Hawaiian (mom) and 50% Portuguese (dad) and loves to watch hula auana at the Merrie Monarch, where she and Joe have been traveling to Hilo to watch every year (except 2002), for the past umpteenth years!

Noe tries to stay fit by playing volleyball, walking and going to aerobics classes with good friend, Debs, but it's just an uphill, never-ending battle to keep in shape! Noe's motto is "You only live once" and "Life is too short", so she never turns down food when offered to her.

Joe & Noe Together

Joe and Noe have been together for the past 14 years!. They first met at Sbarros Ala Moana back in 1989. Their first date was at the Reggae Sunsplash on Saturday, May 20, 1989 at the Waikiki Shell. Little did they know that 14 wonderful years would fly by so fast!

Joe and Noe have traveled to many places together and have acquired many friends and memories along the way. Just ask to see one of their many photo albums and you will see just how many happy times were had!

The happy couple moved out on their own in 1994 with their three dogs; Kolohe, Precious and Chiquita, which are close enough to be their children. After living on Machado Street for six years, Joe and Noe moved back to Laumaile Street to be with Joe's mom and nephew. After Kolohe and Joe's mom passed away in 2002, Joe's nephew moved to California to live with Joe's sisters and left Joe and Noe alone again with their dogs Precious and Chiquita.

Joe and Noe currently live with a new edition to their family. Hapa, a 2-year old poi dog, was given to Joe and Noe by Noe's sister Wendi. Hapa, Precious and Chiquita are Joe and Noe's pride and joy!
